About
Reference Tree is a digital learning company focused on Higher Education. The Reference Tree service licences academic textbooks to students by the chapter – saving students money and providing a new distribution model for publishers.
The Market
- Frustrated demand for academic book resources in university libraries
- Demand for resources not met due to promotion of tertiary education leading to increased student numbers and a downward trend in book spend as a proportion of academic library budgets
- Students are being put in a position where buying the textbooks for a module is becoming more of a necessity
- Given that most modules within universities last one semester (generally 8 – 10 weeks) many students are loath to buy the latest editions of books, and hence purchase previous editions or second hand books reducing the value the book can provide to their learning experience
